As Chief Executive of First Artist PLC he had an extensive client list of over 400 professional footballer players worldwide. The firm’s clients included Diego Maradona, Gianfranco Zola, Claude Makelele and Ruud Gullit. He is generally accepted as one of the figures that has helped the English Premier League become the power that it is today. Having built First Artist to a business with over £100m turnover, he is now an advisor to various sports organizations as well as a number of investment funds.
Since incorporating in March 2018, Halfspace has seen incredible growth with clients across the football, rugby, cycling and motorsports sectors. The team, located in Putney South-West London, have successfully proven a full service data & creative approach to marketing for rights holders and media organizations in sport.
“To have someone of Jon’s stature joining us is a massive testament to the hard work the team have put in to prove the unique model we have built,” Said Halfspace Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Sanjit Atwal. “We have a shared vision to drive over-indexed value for rights holders and brands through a specialist combination of data and creativity. Our goal is to become the worlds largest sports marketing agency and we need people like Jon to help guide us towards that summit.”
“It is a great honour for me to accept the role of Non-Executive Chair of Halfspace,” Said Smith. “In the time that I have known the Executives of the Company, I have been sizeably impressed of not only their understanding of the demands of the digital marketing arena, but pertinently in their vision of how their combined talents can maximise client’s visions of the sporting and entertainment market places as we move into the 2020s”.
